An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

I work at a small grassroots charter school-started by teachers 26 year ago. We created a joyful place to work, with autonomy to create and teach. We implemented all the best research practices. We set a 20 to 1 ratio of student to teacher, with multiple aides to support each teacher. I have an elementary, new mom teacher who wants to find another like minded teacher who wants to job share for many years together. We are looking for a Montessori influenced or certificated Elementary Teacher (teach 6-9 year olds) who has experience with team-teaching who would work collaboratively with staff and parents. Someone with a Montessori Credential is preferred, however it is not required. Applicants will prefer working in a unique classroom setting that encourages individualized learning, intellectual curiosity, self-motivation, inner discipline, independence and freedom with responsibility. Teachers will prefer working in a collaborative, creative environment with a team of teachers. The Antioch Charter Academies are two (public-non-profit) charter schools which have been serving TK-8 students in Antioch for over 25 years. We are grass-root charters (started by teachers and parents), supported by AUSD and families of Antioch, Brentwood, Oakley and Pittsburg area.
