An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

The right person will make learning interesting and enjoyable while still providing structure and consistency. Our student does best with a mix of academics, movement, hands-on activities, and creativity, so someone who can think outside the box is a big plus! Experience working with ADHD and different learning styles is important. Patience, flexibility, and an encouraging approach are key, along with helping build confidence, organization, focus, and independence.
The role includes:
Teaching a full 5th grade curriculum — math, reading, writing, science, social studies, etc. Creating engaging, hands-on lessons tailored to the student. Incorporating projects, STEM, art, games, movement, and other activities. Helping with organization, time management, and staying focused. Communicating with parents about progress and what's working. Must like dogs.
Ideal background:
Degree in Education Teaching credential Elementary teaching or homeschool experience Experience with ADHD or learning differences Dependable, organized, patient, and genuinely enjoys teaching kids Competitive hourly rate based on experience. The goal is to find someone who can build a great long-term relationship with our student and family and make school something our student actually looks forward to each day.
