What they do
An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Lead children through Montessori curriculum including giving lessons, monitoring children's progress and readiness for new lessons, and providing proper guidance through the Montessori curriculum Leading and working as a team with your assistant teacher Planning art, cooking, and gardening projects Managing and maintaining children's Montessori records Education of the whole child- social, emotional, and developmental.
Daily Schedule:
7:30am-8:30am- Classroom Prep Time 8:30-10:30am
- Montessori Classroom Work Period 10:30am-11:00am
- Circle Time 11:00am-12:00pm
- Playground Time 12:00pm
- Wash up for Lunch 12:15pm-1:15pm
- Lunch 1:15pm
- 2:30pm
- Classroom Work Period 2:30pm
- 3:00pm
- Classroom Prep Time About us For over 35 years, Montessori School of Novato has provided an enriching environment for toddler (2 year olds) and preschool-aged children.
Requirements:
- Montessori Teaching Certification
- Child CPR/First Aid training (We will provide if needed)
- Ability to bend, sit on the floor, lift children, kneel down to help children
- Experience in a classroom/childcare setting monitoring more than a small group of children
Responsibilities:
Be a role model for children. Listen to the teacher's instructions and follow them accordingly. Maintain consistency with routine and expectations set for students. Follow up on the routines of discipline Supervising classroom, playground, and meal times Good communication with staff and parents Willing to be a team player and pitch in when needed Changing of diapers and helping children when they have accidents Making and serving snack Monitoring when children are picked up from school Leading circle time with story Some light cleaning (wiping down chairs and tables, cleaning materials, dusting, snack dishes, laundry, etc.)- Summer & Holiday Hours will differ
