Lead, Inspire, and Help Young Learners Thrive Montessori Teacher | Shasta Family YMCA Child Care The Shasta Family YMCA is looking for a caring, energetic, and dependable Montessori Teacher to create meaningful learning experiences for young children across our child care sites. This is a wonderful opportunity for an early childhood educator who believes every child deserves a safe, nurturing place to learn, grow, and belong. As a YMCA Teacher, you will lead Montessori-inspired activities, guide children through their daily routines, and build positive partnerships with families and coworkers. You will play an important role in helping children develop confidence, curiosity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning. What You'll Do
- Create and maintain a safe, welcoming, and engaging Montessori classroom environment.
- Plan, coordinate, and lead age-appropriate Montessori activities and daily learning experiences.
- Provide active supervision, positive guidance, and encouragement for every child.
- Support children during transitions, meals, outdoor play, and field trips.
- Maintain accurate attendance, child counts, meal counts, lesson plans, journals, and other required records.
- Prepare for field trips, including checklists, emergency binders, and participant records.
- Communicate respectfully and professionally with families, coworkers, Site Directors, and the Child Care Manager.
- Help maintain classroom materials, equipment, inventory, and clean work areas.
- Participate in YMCA staff meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development.
- Uphold all YMCA Child Care policies, procedures, and safety practices. What You'll Bring
- Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 12 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units.
- Experience working with children in an organized early learning, school-age, or child care setting.
- A positive, patient, organized, and team-focused approach.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to building positive relationships with children and families.
- A deep commitment to child safety, inclusion, and high-quality early learning. Employment Requirements Selected candidates must be able to complete or demonstrate the following:
- DOJ/FBI Live Scan criminal record clearance.
- Health screening and TB test within 7 days of hire.
- EMSA-approved CPR and First Aid certification within 60 days of hire.
- Child Abuse Prevention and Reporting Training within 30 days of hire.
- Commitment to following all YMCA Child Care policies, procedures, and safety practices.
