Elementary Long Term Substitute Teacher November 2026-March 2027 AGM Armenian School Santa Ana, CA Job Details Full-time From $23 an hour 1 hour ago Qualifications School experience Experience teaching math Writing skills Teaching Certification Experience working with individuals with autism Bachelor's degree Classroom experience Parent-teacher conferences (communication methods) Full Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated Elementary School Teacher to serve as a long term substitute from November 2026 to approximately March 2027 for one of our 1st grade classroom. Candidate must be able to foster a positive and engaging learning environment for young students. The ideal candidate will possess strong instructional skills, classroom management expertise, and a passion for supporting children's academic and social development. This role involves designing and implementing curriculum, assessing student progress, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure an enriching educational experience for all students. Reliability is a MUST! Duties Develop and deliver age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating literacy, math, science, social studies, and physical education. Utilize learning technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance student engagement and understanding. Manage classroom behavior through effective behavior management strategies and create a safe, inclusive environment conducive to learning. Assess student progress through standardized testing, formative assessments, and observations; adjust instruction accordingly. Provide individualized support and tutoring to students needing additional assistance, including those with special needs or in early intervention programs. Collaborate with special education staff to support students with autism or other learning differences. Mentor students in social-emotional skills and foster positive relationships that promote academic success. Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavioral incidents. Engage with parents and guardians through conferences and regular communication to support student growth. Participate in professional development activities related to curriculum development, childhood development, Montessori methods, or other relevant areas. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field; advanced certifications preferred. Valid teaching license or certification for elementary education preferred. Experience working with children in classroom settings; prior private school experience is a plus. Strong knowledge of childhood development, literacy education, math instruction, and classroom management techniques. Familiarity with learning technology tools and educational software. Experience working with students with special needs or autism spectrum disorder is desirable. Excellent communication skills, patience, creativity, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and families. Proven ability to develop engaging lesson plans using curriculum development best practices including writing skills and proofreading as needed. Knowledge of standardized testing procedures and experience in tutoring or remedial instruction preferred.
