Job Description

Banning Lewis Ranch Academy is a tuition-free public charter school authorized by District 49, proudly serving the Banning Lewis Ranch community and surrounding neighborhoods in north eastern Colorado Springs since 2006. Our mission is to create a safe, supportive environment where students thrive academically and develop the skills, character, and mindset to engage with the world.
Position Overview:
Banning Lewis Ranch Academy (BLRA) seeks passionate, collaborative Elementary Teachers committed to helping all students achieve at high academic levels while developing strong character and citizenship. BLRA is a community-centered charter school serving over 700 elementary students as part of the broader Banning Lewis Academy K-12 system. Our school community values strong relationships, teamwork, and a commitment to helping every student grow academically and personally. Teachers at BLRA foster classrooms where students read, write, speak, and think critically across all content areas while building the habits and character needed for lifelong success.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver Rigorous Instruction Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction across core content areas Maintain high expectations for every student and ensure students are challenged to demonstrate deep understanding Integrate reading, writing, and academic discussion across all subject areas Design learning experiences that require students to explain thinking, analyze information, and apply knowledge Ensure student learning and mastery through data analysis of formative and summative assessments and differentiated instruction based on that data. Support Growth for All Learners Differentiate instruction to support a wide range of learners, including students with individualized education plans, gifted learners, English language learners, and a variety of other diverse learning needs Use formative and summative assessment data to guide instruction and provide targeted support Provide small-group instruction and interventions to accelerate academic growth Build Strong Classroom Culture Establish a structured, relationship-centered classroom environment where students feel known, respected, and supported Teach and reinforce positive behaviors, responsibility, and character Create routines and expectations that maximize instructional time and require high levels of student engagement Collaborate with Colleagues Participate actively in grade-level teams and professional learning communities Collaborate with specialists, interventionists, and special education staff to support student success Contribute to a positive, solution-oriented staff culture focused on continuous improvement, growth, and supporting every student, every day Partner with Families and Community Build strong relationships with families and maintain consistent communication about student progress Support a welcoming and inclusive school community Engage families as partners in their child's learning and development Support family engagement event, including volunteerism, parent conferences, and celebration of learning events Commit to Professional Growth Seek and implement feedback from school leaders and instructional coaches Participate in professional development and collaborative learning opportunities Reflect on instructional practice and continuously improve teaching effectiveness
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field Valid Colorado Teaching License, or a willingness and ability to obtain one Experience working with elementary-aged children Must successfully complete a background check
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with Capturing Kids' Hearts, Eureka Squared Math, and Core Knowledge Language Arts and/or SuperKids Reading is preferred Trained in the Science of Reading, with the ability to demonstrate competency for READ Act compliance Why Join Us?
