An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

General Statement:

Permanent Building Substitute Teachers will be assigned to a school for the academic year. They will replace teachers on either a daily or long-term basis, and are responsible for the continuation of all learning activities in the classroom. Permanent Building Substitute Teachers are required to hold at least a bachelor's degree from an accredited college. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience, hold a Connecticut Teaching Certification as well as those enrolled in Educator Prep Programs. Major Responsibilities Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Qualifications Note:

Teachers dually certified in TESOL, Bilingual Education or ESL, with experience in Sheltered Instruction or fluency in a language other than English, will be given preference for all Stamford Public School positions.
