An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Job Description

The School of Arts and Sciences at The Centre is seeking applications for full-time Elementary 4th/5th Grade Lead Teacher to work with an Associate Teacher in a multi-aged classroom of approximately 26 students.
Applicants should be able to:
  • Plan and execute rigorous, teacher created, hands-on thematic and project-based lessons
  • Implement and support instruction and assessment practices for a diverse group of students that reflect the Florida Standards and the principles of our Charter
  • Work collaboratively with a diverse group of school colleagues, parents, community members and others to support and implement the goals of the school
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of a bachelor's degree Current Florida Teaching Certificate (Primary and/or Elementary) Experience teaching elementary-aged students Strong Classroom Management Experience working with children Familiarity with the Florida Standards Familiarity with the Key Components of the SAS Charter (view school website) Clear Background Screening (Florida Clearinghouse Information)

Conscious Discipline Training Reading endorsement Experience with the
MTSS/RTI
process
