An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Duties Develop and implement Montessori-based curriculum tailored to the developmental needs of preschool and toddler-aged children Create engaging lesson plans that incorporate literacy education, math, physical education, and early childhood development concepts Manage classroom activities to ensure a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment Utilize effective behavior management and classroom management techniques to support positive social interactions Communicate regularly with parents regarding child progress, behavior, and developmental milestones Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress reports, and mandated reporting laws compliance Ensure adherence to health and safety protocols, including first aid and CPR certification requirements Qualifications Montessori training/certification for the 2½-6 age group preferred. Strong understanding of Montessori philosophy, principles, and the prepared environment. Knowledge of child development and the ability to support each child's individual developmental, academic, social, and emotional needs. Ability to give individual and small-group Montessori presentations and guide children toward independence, concentration, coordination, and a love of learning. Experience observing children and using observations to plan, document, and follow up on individual lessons and progress. Ability to maintain an orderly, beautiful, and developmentally appropriate Montessori prepared environment. Strong classroom guidance skills using positive, respectful, and peaceful approaches consistent with Montessori philosophy. Strong communication skills for effective parent conferences, parent communication, and collaboration with the Montessori teaching team. Ability to create meaningful learning experiences that support literacy, mathematics, physical development, social-emotional growth, and independence. Familiarity with mandated reporting requirements, child safety regulations, and applicable state licensing requirements. Current First Aid and CPR certification required, or willingness to obtain certification upon hire. Experience with student assessments, progress documentation, and developmental observations is preferred. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a collaborative teaching team while maintaining a calm, respectful, and professional classroom environment.
Pay:
$21.00 - $26.00 per hour Expected hours: 37.5 per week
