Job Description

URGENT! Overview We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher to join our educational team. The Super Substitute Teacher is a full-time, daily substitute who reports to school each scheduled school day. The primary responsibility is to provide consistent classroom coverage when a teacher is absent. On days when all teachers are present, the Super Substitute will provide instructional, behavioral, and operational support throughout the school. This position also serves as an opportunity to demonstrate readiness for a permanent teaching position. The Super Substitute will be considered for appropriate teaching vacancies as they become available, based on performance, qualifications, certification, and the needs of the school. Responsibilities Report to school on time every scheduled school day and remain available for assignment throughout the day. Provide classroom coverage for absent teachers in any assigned grade level or subject area. Follow the absent teacher's lesson plans and maintain continuity of instruction. Deliver lessons, supervise student work, assist students, and provide meaningful instruction rather than simply monitoring the classroom. Maintain established classroom routines, behavioral expectations, and schoolwide procedures. Take attendance and complete all required classroom records and reports. Communicate important academic, behavioral, or safety concerns to the classroom teacher and administration. Protect student confidentiality and handle student information professionally. Supervise students during arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, transitions, assemblies, and other assigned activities. Respond flexibly to last-minute changes in classroom coverage or school needs. Become familiar with school policies, curriculum, technology, emergency procedures, and student expectations. Responsibilities When All Teachers Are Present When substitute coverage is not needed, the Super Substitute may be assigned to: Support teachers in classrooms through small-group instruction, individual tutoring, and academic intervention. Work with students who need additional support in reading, mathematics, writing, or other priority areas. Assist with classroom management and student engagement. Provide short-term classroom coverage so teachers can attend meetings, conferences, testing sessions, or planning activities. Support testing, progress monitoring, assessment administration, and student data collection. Assist with make-up work, missing assignments, and student organization. Help prepare instructional materials, learning centers, bulletin boards, and classroom resources. Support students with behavioral, social-emotional, or transitional needs under the direction of school staff. Assist with schoolwide programs, special events, safety procedures, and other duties assigned by administration. Professional Expectations The Super Substitute Teacher is expected to: Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, flexibility, and consistent attendance. Build positive and respectful relationships with students, families, teachers, and staff. Maintain a professional appearance and professional conduct. Accept assignments across grade levels and classrooms based on the school's needs. Seek feedback and demonstrate a willingness to learn and improve. Participate in required staff meetings, professional development, and school activities. Serve as a positive role model and uphold the mission, values, and expectations of the school. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or administration. Consideration for Future Employment The Super Substitute Teacher will be considered for future teaching vacancies for which they are qualified. Consideration may be based on certification, classroom performance, instructional ability, reliability, professionalism, relationships with students and staff, and the school's staffing needs. Serving successfully as the Super Substitute does not guarantee appointment to a permanent position but provides the employee with an opportunity to demonstrate their qualifications and readiness for future employment. Required Qualifications and Preferred Experience Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Current Florida Professional or Temporary Educator Certificate, or an official Florida Statement of Status of Eligibility showing eligibility for certification. Certification or eligibility in at least one area appropriate to the school's grade levels, including: Elementary Education, Grades K-6 Prekindergarten/Primary Education, Age 3-Grade 3 Exceptional Student Education, Grades K-12 Another valid Florida certification area that authorizes the applicant to teach the grades or subjects assigned Previous teaching, student-teaching, substitute-teaching, tutoring, paraprofessional, childcare, or other relevant experience working with elementary-aged children. Knowledge of elementary curriculum, lesson delivery, classroom management, student assessment, and differentiated instruction. Ability to teach and support reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies across multiple elementary grade levels. Ability to use classroom technology and learn the school's instructional programs and student-information systems. Strong communication, organization, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Ability to establish positive relationships with students while maintaining clear behavioral expectations. Willingness and ability to accept daily assignments across multiple classrooms and grade levels. Successful completion of all required background screening, fingerprinting, and employment requirements. Preferred Qualifications At least one year of successful classroom, substitute-teaching, or student-support experience. Experience working with students who have diverse academic, behavioral, language, or social-emotional needs. ESOL, Reading, or Exceptional Student Education endorsement or certification.
