K-2 Small Group Lead Teacher -
Microschool Position:
K-2
Small Group Lead Teacher Grades:
Kindergarten-2nd
Grade Class Size:
Typically 2-3 students per instructional group; up to 5 students together once per week About the Position We are a small microschool seeking a confident, dependable, and organized K-2 Lead Teacher who enjoys working with young learners in a small-group environment. Our class sizes are intentionally small. The teacher will typically work with 2-3 students at a time , with approximately 5 students together once per week . Curriculum, instructional materials, and academic pacing are already provided. We are not looking for someone to create curriculum from scratch. We need an educator who can follow the provided curriculum, teach the material effectively, and confidently manage a small classroom. Subjects Taught The Lead Teacher will be responsible for teaching: Reading / ELA Math Science and History/Social Studies on alternating weeks One week will focus on Science The following week will focus on History/Social Studies Curriculum and materials for these subjects are provided. Responsibilities Teach Kindergarten-2nd Grade students using the provided curriculum and materials Follow the established daily schedule, lesson plans, and academic pacing Provide engaging small-group instruction Explain concepts in different ways when students need additional support Manage students working at different grade levels within the K-2 classroom Maintain strong classroom routines, expectations, and boundaries Keep students engaged, on task, and actively learning Calmly and appropriately redirect off-task or challenging behavior Manage transitions between subjects, groups, independent work, and activities Monitor student work and provide academic support as needed Communicate student progress or concerns with administration Prepare basic classroom materials Operate a printer/copier and make photocopies independently Use Gmail and basic computer programs Keep the classroom organized and prepared for instruction What We Provide We want our Lead Teacher to be able to focus on what matters most: teaching students and managing the classroom.

Our Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who is: Strong and confident with classroom management Warm, patient, and nurturing while maintaining clear boundaries Comfortable independently leading a K-2 classroom Able to manage multiple students and grade levels at the same time Able to keep young students engaged and on task Comfortable teaching Reading/ELA, Math, Science, and History/Social Studies Able to follow an established curriculum and schedule Organized and able to manage classroom materials Comfortable with basic technology Reliable and punctual Flexible and able to problem-solve Energetic and engaging with young learners Able to work independently without requiring constant direction
Qualifications Preferred:
Previous elementary classroom teaching experience Experience working with Kindergarten-2nd Grade students Strong small-group instruction and classroom management skills Knowledge of foundational Reading/ELA and Math Teaching degree, education coursework, teaching certification, paraprofessional experience, tutoring experience, or similar educational background A teaching certification is a plus but may not be required for the right candidate with strong elementary teaching experience. Important About This Role Although our student-to-teacher ratio is very small, this is a Lead Teacher position and requires someone who can confidently manage the classroom independently. We are looking for someone who can take the curriculum and materials provided, teach them effectively, maintain classroom structure, and keep students learning throughout the school day. This position may be an excellent fit for an experienced teacher who loves teaching but prefers a small, individualized classroom environment rather than a traditional classroom of 20-30 students.
Pay:
$16.00 - $18.00 per hour
