Job Overview St. Peter Claver Regional Catholic School , a PK-8th grade school in Decatur, seeks a full-time third grade teacher for the 2026-27 school year. Applicants must have a teaching certificate and possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree. Experience preferred but not required. Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards for 3rd-grade students across subjects including literacy, math, science, and social studies Foster a positive classroom atmosphere through effective classroom management and behavior guidance strategies Differentiate instruction to accommodate various learning styles and special education needs, including working with students with autism or other developmental considerations Monitor student progress regularly using assessments, standardized testing data, and performance data analysis to tailor instruction and support individual growth Integrate educational technology tools and learning technology platforms to enhance teaching effectiveness and student engagement Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavioral concerns, and upcoming assessments through regular updates and meetings Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, lesson planning, and school-wide initiatives such as early childhood education programs or Montessori methods Support extracurricular activities such as tutoring sessions, library services, or physical education to promote holistic development Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, behavioral incidents, and compliance with educational regulations Requirements Proven experience teaching elementary school students, especially in 3rd grade or similar early childhood settings Strong knowledge of curriculum implementation across core subjects including literacy education, math, science, and social studies Excellent communication skills for effective parent-teacher interactions and team collaboration Demonstrated classroom management skills combined with behavior management techniques Experience working with children with diverse needs including special education or early intervention programs Familiarity with educational technology integration and learning styles adaptability to meet individual student needs Ability to analyze student performance data to inform instruction and monitor progress over time Knowledge of standardized testing procedures and educational compliance regulations Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan lessons efficiently while maintaining flexibility for spontaneous teaching moments Commitment to ongoing professional development in childhood development theories, literacy strategies, or behavior management techniques Join us in shaping the future by nurturing curious minds!
