An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.
The Gifted Education Teacher plans, delivers, and monitors differentiated instruction for students formally identified as gifted, in accordance with Georgia State Board of Education Rule 160-4-2-.38 (Education Program for Gifted Students) and the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) Resource Manual for Gifted Education Services. This role ensures gifted learners receive instruction that extends and accelerates the pace, depth, and complexity of the Georgia Standards of Excellence beyond what is available in general education, while supporting the school's mission of academic and moral excellence for every student.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver differentiated instruction aligned to the Georgia Standards of Excellence to extend and accelerate learning for identified gifted students. Design and implement interdisciplinary units and enrichment activities that develop advanced cognitive, research, and metacognitive skills. Provide gifted services through approved delivery models, including resource classes, cluster grouping, collaborative teaching, advanced content, and innovative models. Collaborate with general education teachers to modify lessons and differentiate instruction, content, processes, products, and learning environments to meet the needs of diverse gifted learners. Support the gifted identification process, including nominations, referrals, evaluations, and documentation in accordance with GaDOE requirements. Assist with RTI documentation and maintain accurate records of eligibility, service minutes, and instructional documentation to support program compliance and funding requirements. Assess and monitor student progress using formal and informal measures; use data to adjust instruction, pacing, and grouping. Document student growth and provide updates for progress reports, report cards, and parent conferences. Communicate regularly with families regarding student eligibility, services, and progress. Collaborate with administrators, teachers, and support staff to ensure effective delivery of gifted services and compliance with state and local requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution. Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate; Gifted In-Field Endorsement or current enrollment in a GaPSC-approved endorsement program with a defined completion timeline. Working knowledge of Georgia's gifted education service delivery model. Strong instructional planning, differentiation, and classroom management skills. Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions. Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices. Prior classroom teaching experience with gifted or advanced learners.
