Main functions include but are not limited to: Assisting students with developing thinking skills and content knowledge Providing language support as needed Planning and implementation of standards-based instruction Establishing a positive classroom environment and culture for learning Analyzing data and action planning Consistently communicating with stakeholders Implementing the SIOP framework and metalinguistic awareness Providing data and reports that are evidence of student progress

Professional Educator's Licence (PEL) with degree/endorsement in ESL Bachelor's Degree in Education Master's Degree preferred SPED endorsements preferred

Knowledge/Skills :

Thorough understanding of the Illinois Learning Standards Thorough knowledge of the SIOP framework and/or strategies that lead to increased student achievement Thorough knowledge of best practices in English as a Second Language Thorough understanding of the content being taught Strong planning and implementation skills Communicate clearly orally and in writing in both Spanish and English preferred Strong collaboration skills Data analysis skills Knowledge/implementation of restorative discipline practices Strong understanding of equitable classroom practices High expectations for all students including language learners
