Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Job Description

Hillel Torah North Suburban Day School, located in Skokie, Illinois, is seeking an Elementary School (grades 1-4) Lead Teacher to join our General Studies team for the 2026-2027 school year. Our general studies lead teachers are responsible for teaching reading, writing, and mathematics. Lead teachers work closely with their assistant teacher, as well as collaborate with the Student Services (special education) Department, school social worker, and outside support to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of all their students. The ideal candidate is a warm and nurturing educator with a creative, progressive, student-centered, and academically engaging teaching style and experience teaching in elementary school classrooms.
Qualifications:
Degree in education (Bachelors or higher) Illinois State Teaching License required Experience teaching elementary school preferred
