Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Job Description

St. Matthew School, located on the northeast side of Indianapolis, is seeking a passionate and dedicated maternity leave substitute teacher to join our elementary team. This temporary position offers a wonderful opportunity to provide consistency and support while making a meaningful impact on students' learning and growth. At St. Matthew School, we strive to create a faith-filled, student-centered environment where relationships matter and every child is supported and known. In this role, you will provide continuity of instruction and maintain an engaging, well-managed classroom during a teacher's maternity leave. You will work with established curriculum and plans, adapt instruction to meet the needs of all learners, and foster a classroom culture built on respect, high expectations, and inclusion. You will also collaborate closely with families, colleagues, and school leadership to support students academically and socially. The ideal candidate has a genuine passion for working with elementary students, along with strong classroom management, communication, and student-engagement skills. We value educators who are dependable, collaborative, flexible, and committed to contributing to a positive, faith-based school community. Candidates should hold a valid Elementary Education teaching license or be eligible to serve as a substitute teacher in Indiana. Additional certifications, endorsements, and relevant classroom experience are welcome and will be considered.
