An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Organization Information Morgan County has four elementary schools (grades kindergarten-6) and one high school (grades 7-12). The district is directed by a five-member elected board of education and facilitated by a district superintendent with the assistance of the Central Office staff. Each school is guided by a School-Based Decision Making (SBDM) council consisting of the principal, three teachers elected by the teaching staff, and two parents elected by the parent population. The school district employs 160 certified and 185 classified staff to provide optimal learning opportunities for all students. The district curriculum adheres to state and national standards and sets high expectations for all students. As a district, our goal is to provide the building blocks for all students to be successful, lifelong learners.
