An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Barnstable Public Schools needs to increase our pool of professional, qualified substitute teachers. We are looking for people to work in all grade levels across the district on an as-needed per diem basis.

  • IMPORTANT INFORMATION
  • High School diploma required.

Two years of college is preferred. Please attach transcripts if available. Education requirements are subject to change.

Substitute Pay:

$105.00 per day Non-Certified

$115.00 per day for current MA certified teachers and retired Barnstable Public School teachers. Barnstable Public Schools is using Substitute Online, an automated service, to place substitutes. Eligible substitutes are placed on the substitute list and will be sent a password and instructions on how to access Substitute Online.
