An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Teachers' Salary Schedule Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate, required Knowledge of elementary student expectations including academic, social, emotional and behavioral milestones Experience or knowledge of Reading, Writing and Math Workshop models Experience utilizing student data to drive instruction in all subject areas Strong commitment to educating students Ability to create lesson plans and implement instructional strategies to address the needs of students in various classroom settings Ability to be flexible and adapt to schedule changes Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, students and parents Proficiency in Google Suite applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, etc.) and online sourcing tools with functional knowledge of internet use for search platforms Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find acceptable and appropriate This position is classified as Exempt Employment is contingent upon disclosure in accordance with PA-189. Ability to withstand the strains and successfully manage the responsibilities of the position. Must demonstrate reliability and punctuality, with a strong record of consistent attendance. Regular and dependable presence during school hours is essential. All staff members are expected to maintain a professional and respectful attitude toward one another at all times.
