Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a full-time lead teacher to provide exemplary care and guidance to students in our Montessori Primary setting for students reaching 3-6 years. The role of the Primary Guide is that of observer, mentor, and facilitator. This role offers an opportunity to create a supportive, inspiring, inclusive environment for preschoolers to thrive emotionally, socially, and academically. By working together closely with families and observing children while they work and play, a successful Primary Guide will create an environment that connects with the child and supports their learning across the physical, cognitive, and social emotional domains. Responsibilities Observe each child closely to identify unique learning paces, interests, and developmental "sensitive periods" without interrupting a child's concentration and progress. Engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote curiosity, creativity, and early childhood development. Prepare and maintain an orderly, beautiful, and sequencial physical space where materials invite purposeful activity. Give brief, intentional one-on-one or small group lessons designed to ignite the imagination rather than provide finished answers. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding children's progress and daily experiences to foster strong partnerships. Model grace, courtesy, and peaceful conflict resolution to cultivate a respectful, cooperative community among mixed-aged peers. Support assistant staff by providing positive, constructive feedback on a regular basis. Collaborate with assistant staff to problem solve daily challenges. Maintain regular communication with families and provide consistent progress updates, including feedback from a variety of developmental assessments Requirements Must meet MiLeap requirements for preschool lead teacher within 90 days of hire. Must meet GSRP qualifications or complete a compliance plan with GSRP coordinators. Knowledge of childhood development principles, behavior management strategies, and classroom management techniques. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues and engage with young children. A desire to study Montessori theory and application in the classroom is required. Consistent and timely attendance is required. Willingness to collaborate with leadership team consisting of Director and school lead teachers. Must maintain organized and up-to-date student records and lesson plans.
