After School STEM Program Co-Teacher (Kindergarten/1st grade classroom) A2D Academy Minneapolis, MN Job Details Part-time $20 - $25 an hour 1 hour ago Benefits 401(k) Qualifications School experience Teamwork Education Working with students Time management Full Job Description A2D Academy is a small local nonprofit in Edina MN that teaches the love of Arts and Education to students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. We are seeking teachers to assist our Explorer's Club program (after school). Explorer's Club is our after-school care program designed with two complementary components. It provides students with a relaxed, social environment where they can unwind after the school day while spending time with friends. In addition, students participate in focused learning sessions that extend their education through STEAM experiences, including Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Maker Space projects. The program is organized into five terms, each centered around a unique theme. During every term, guest speakers and presenters visit each of the four focus classes to lead a special learning experience. At the conclusion of each term, families are invited to an Exhibition Night to explore, experience, and learn about the projects and activities students have completed in Explorers Club. Position Overview The Co-Teacher at A2D Academy works collaboratively with a Lead Teacher to design, implement, and assess instruction for a diverse group of students within a shared classroom environment. This position requires strong collaboration skills, a commitment to inclusive education, and a passion for fostering academic and social-emotional growth in every student. Key ResponsibilitiesCollaborative Instruction and Planning Co-plan daily and weekly lessons with the Lead Teacher, ensuring alignment with A2D Academy curriculum standards and student learning objectives. Implement various co-teaching models (e.g., Team Teaching, One Teach/One Assist, Parallel Teaching, Station Teaching, Alternative Teaching) to maximize student engagement and differentiation. Actively participate in the delivery of instruction, often leading small-group activities, stations, or focused skill-building sessions. Adapt and modify instructional materials and assessments to meet the needs of all learners, including students with IEPs, 504 plans, and English Language Learners (ELLs). Classroom Management and Environment Contribute to the creation of a positive, safe, and organized learning environment that promotes respect and collaboration. Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing consistent classroom management strategies and school-wide behavioral expectations. Supervise students during instructional time, transitions, and non-instructional periods (e.g., lunch, recess, hallway). Proactively address student behavior and provide timely, constructive feedback. Help maintain accurate and up-to-date student records. Communication and Professionalism Maintain open and consistent communication with the Lead Teacher regarding student progress, concerns, and planning. Attend all required faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and collaborative planning meetings. Communicate effectively and professionally with parents/guardians, other faculty members, and school administrators. Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional growth and continuous improvement in teaching practice. Qualifications, Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Education or a relevant field (preferred). Previous experience working with school-aged children in an educational setting is highly desirable. Experience with co-teaching models or collaborative instructional settings is a plus. Skills and Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and time-management abilities. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and demonstrate flexibility. Reporting Structure The Co-Teacher reports directly to the Lead Teacher of the assigned classroom and the designated A2D Academy Director.
