An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

More than 30 Starting Salary Range Payscale based on steps and lanes Description Highland Catholic School is looking for a vibrant full-time third grade teacher. This candidate would be required to prepare and deliver the full curriculum to their students. Teachers are supported by teaching assistants, reading specialists, and teachers in Spanish, Physical Education, Music, Visual Arts, and Library. There is an emphasis on literacy through the Science of Reading and fundamental math skills. Classroom management includes developing social skills and incorporating our Olweus Anti-Bullying Program into weekly lessons. There is joy in helping students grow in their faith lives. The two third grade teachers work together to coordinate lessons, field trips and home communication. Qualifications Highland Catholic School is the parish school of Lumen Christi Catholic Community in Highland Park. We serve families from the parish and across surrounding communities. The Catholic Social Teachings lead both the parish and school to acts of justice and charity. The candidate needs a passion for third graders with knowledge of their developmental needs. State teaching license required. Ability to be flexible, creative, and positive. Able to integrate technology into lessons with interactive board and a class set of ipads. Experience working with a team member. Strong management skills and a flair for creating a compelling learning space.
