An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Job Description

Grade 4 Elementary Teacher (Science & Social Studies) Livingston Public Schools is seeking a knowledgeable, collaborative, and student-centered educator to provide high-quality instruction in Science and Social Studies to fourth-grade students. The successful candidate will create engaging learning experiences that promote academic achievement, critical thinking, inquiry, and curiosity while fostering a positive, inclusive classroom environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates expertise in inquiry-based science instruction and engaging social studies practices that encourage students to explore the world around them and develop a deeper understanding of history, geography, civics, and culture. Candidates should be committed to meeting the needs of diverse learners through differentiated instruction, utilizing evidence-based instructional practices, integrating technology to enhance learning, and using assessment data to inform instruction. The successful candidate will also support the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral growth of students while collaborating effectively with grade-level colleagues, specialists, families, and support staff to ensure student success. Applicants must hold or be eligible for the appropriate New Jersey Elementary School Teacher certification at the time of application. Experience teaching elementary-aged students is preferred. Salary will be determined in accordance with the Livingston Education Association (LEA) Agreement, which is available on the district website.
