What they do
An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Full Job Description Terms of Employment:
10-month position following school calendar (September-June) Position is subject to the terms and conditions of the Montclair Education Association collective bargaining agreement.Annual Salary Range:
$67,000 to $119,051 for 2026-27 commensurate with experience and education.General Description of Benefits:
Medical, prescription, and dental benefits subject to requirements and employee contributions under Chapter 44, as applicable, or payment for insurance waiver. Option to pay into a FSA/DCA Enrollment in NJ Teachers' Pension and Annuity Fund. Sick, family illness, personal, and bereavement leave.
