An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

PROBATIONARY ELEMENTARY TEACHER - SCIENCE

Rombout Middle School Description:
This is a probationary, tenure-track position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid NYS Certification in Childhood Education Grades 1-6, required;
Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in the following are required:
NYS Learning Standards and curriculum design, delivery, and assessment;
Effective, student centered classroom management strategies;
Differentiated instruction to support the needs of diverse learners in the classroom;
Culturally responsive instructional practices for elementary classrooms;
Integration of technology to plan, deliver, and assess student learning;
Use of summative and formative student data to inform instructional decisions and student progress;
Effective strategies for student and family engagement;
Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, required;
Prior teaching experience preferred;
Background in Science curriculum preferred. NYS Certification Required Compensation Per BTA Contract Job Category
