In this role, you will design engaging lessons that combine martial arts techniques with character development, ensuring a safe and motivating environment for children to learn and grow. Your enthusiasm and expertise will help cultivate a positive atmosphere where students can thrive both physically and emotionally. Responsibilities Lead engaging martial arts classes tailored specifically for 4th-grade students, incorporating age-appropriate techniques and activities. Develop lesson plans that promote skill development, discipline, teamwork, and self-confidence among young learners. Ensure the safety of all students by adhering to proper safety protocols, including AED operation and first aid procedures when necessary. Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive reinforcement and behavior management strategies to create a respectful learning environment. Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding student progress, achievements, and areas for improvement. Incorporate sports-specific training instruction such as soccer, basketball, cheerleading, climbing, or other physical activities to diversify class offerings. Foster teamwork and leadership skills by encouraging students to participate in group activities and team-building exercises. Qualifications Prior experience working with children in educational or recreational settings, especially in physical education or sports coaching. Must be DOE fingerprinted or do so within 5 days of hire Proficiency in martial arts disciplines such as karate or other relevant styles; certification is a plus. Demonstrated ability to teach physical education with a focus on sports coaching, behavior management, and child development. Strong communication skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and colleagues. Valid certification in first aid and CPR; AED operation knowledge is required. Experience in coaching sports like soccer and basketball as well is preferred. Background in childcare or health club environments with an emphasis on safety and student engagement. Pay:
