Responsibilities Our incoming second grade lead teacher must possess outstanding skills for maximizing learning and a commitment to helping nurture a school that rivals the best private schools in New York City. The second grade lead teacher has the following core responsibilities: Implement the Benchmark Literacy and Math in Focus curricula to develop and deliver engaging literacy and mathematics lessons aligned with Harlem Academy's mission and values. Foster an environment where students are encouraged to take risks, solve problems, and develop critical thinking skills. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners, providing individualized support as necessary. Use various assessment tools to measure student progress and provide meaningful feedback to students and their families. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth transitions and continuity in learning, especially as students move between grade levels. Maintain strong communication with parents through regular updates, conferences, and feedback. Integrate technology in meaningful ways to enhance learning and foster collaboration. Participate actively in the school community, including attending faculty meetings and school events, and contributing to extracurricular activities. Qualifications BA/BS degree in Education or a relevant field (Master's degree preferred). At least three years of teaching experience, ideally in a K-5 classroom environment. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. Experience in using best practices in curriculum development and assessment. Digital literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Classroom. Passion for working with children and a commitment to the mission of Harlem Academy. Compensation Harlem Academy offers professional development opportunities, benefits, 10 weeks of paid vacation, and salary from $55,000 to $85,000 based on experience and demonstrated skills. There is a potential stipend available for teaching a Spanish elective if the chosen candidate is interested and qualified.
