Upper Elementary French Teacher

Saint David's School seeks a full-time one-year maternity leave French teacher for September 1, 2026. Teaching responsibilities include French classes in Grades Six through Eight and Introductory Latin in Grades Five and Six.

The ideal candidate will:

Have experience teaching French using a full immersion approach (95% target language) Demonstrate the ability to plan lessons using authentic literature with integrated performance assessments,, games, songs and projects Demonstrate a knowledge of Total Physical Response (TPR) techniques and engage multiple modalities so that students can retain information Work collaboratively with colleagues and the curriculum chair to refine the existing FLES program Demonstrate a willingness to integrate French language instruction with other disciplines Successful applicants should possess the following qualifications: Maturity, collegiality, flexibility, humor Excellent speaking and writing skills 3-5 years' teaching experience with Grades 3 - 8 BA in Elementary education or related field; MA in French, Foreign Language instruction or a related field not required but preferred Native fluency in French language Demonstrable commitment to professional development Salary Range dependent on experience: $70,000 - $121,900 Please send cover letter with expression of interest and résumé, via e-mail only to: positions@saintdavids.org
