Position Type Full-Time | Elementary Education Position Overview Faith Christian Academy seeks a Christ-centered, caring, and enthusiastic First Grade Teacher passionate about helping young students grow academically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally. The First Grade Teacher will create a nurturing and structured classroom environment where students are encouraged to develop a love of learning while growing in their relationship with Christ. The teacher will provide engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with school curriculum and standards while intentionally incorporating biblical principles throughout the school day.

Essential Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum:

Plan and provide engaging, age-appropriate instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, science, social studies, and other assigned subjects. Implement curriculum with appropriate differentiation to meet individual student needs. Incorporate hands-on learning, discussion, movement, technology, and other strategies appropriate for first-grade learners. Use assessment data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction. Maintain high academic expectations while providing appropriate support for students who need additional assistance. Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, assessments, and classroom activities. Maintain accurate student records and grades.

Christian Education:

Integrate biblical truth and Christian principles naturally throughout instruction and classroom life. Lead students in daily prayer, devotions, and age-appropriate Bible instruction as required by the school. Model Christian character, integrity, compassion, patience, humility, and servant leadership. Help students understand how their faith applies to their relationships, choices, learning, and responsibilities. Support the mission and values of Faith Christian Academy.

Classroom Management & Culture:

Establish a safe, loving, structured, and positive classroom environment. Teach and consistently reinforce classroom and schoolwide expectations. Establish predictable routines and procedures that promote student independence. Address behavior promptly, fairly, and respectfully. Build positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate boundaries. Encourage students to demonstrate kindness, responsibility, respect, self-control, and perseverance.

Student Support:

Monitor students' academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development. Identify students who may need additional academic or behavioral support. Work collaboratively with administration, support staff, and families to meet student needs. Provide appropriate accommodations and follow student support plans when applicable. Maintain confidentiality regarding student and family information.

Parent & Family Communication:

Establish positive, professional relationships with parents and guardians. Communicate regularly regarding student progress, classroom activities, and important information. Respond to parent questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner. Partner with families to support student success.

Professional Responsibilities:

Attend faculty meetings, professional development, school events, chapel, and other required activities. Follow all school policies, procedures, and expectations. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute positively to the school community. Participate in arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and other assigned duties. Maintain a clean, organized, welcoming classroom. Continue professional growth through professional development and collaboration.

Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related field. Strong knowledge of elementary instructional practices. Excellent communication and classroom management skills. Ability to create a positive and structured learning environment. Commitment to Christian education and the mission of Faith Christian Academy.

Preferred :

New York State teaching certification or eligibility for certification. Previous elementary or first-grade teaching experience. Experience with early literacy and foundational reading instruction. Experience differentiating instruction for diverse learners.
