3rd Grade Teacher

Overview The 3rd Grade Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, standards-based instruction that supports the academic, social, and emotional development of students. This role emphasizes building foundational skills in literacy, mathematics, and critical thinking while fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment. The teacher collaborates with colleagues, families, and support staff to ensure all students achieve their full potential. Responsibilities Plan and deliver high-quality instruction aligned to state standards and district curriculum Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the diverse needs of learners Assess student progress regularly using formative and summative assessments Differentiate instruction to support students with varying abilities, including intervention and enrichment Create a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom environment that promotes positive behavior Integrate technology and instructional resources to enhance learning Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, grades, and reports Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs Collaborate with grade-level teams, instructional coaches, and support staff Participate in professional development and continuous improvement initiatives Implement classroom management strategies consistent with school and district expectations Support social-emotional learning and student well-being

Qualifications Required and Preferred Required:

Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related field Valid state teaching license/certification appropriate for elementary grades Knowledge of child development and instructional best practices Strong classroom management and organizational skills Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred:

Experience teaching at the elementary level, preferably in upper elementary (grades 3-5) Reading endorsement or specialized training in literacy instruction Experience with data-driven instruction and intervention strategies Familiarity with educational technology tools and learning platforms Master's degree in Education or related field Physical Demands Ability to stand, walk, and move around the classroom for extended periods Ability to lift and carry instructional materials and classroom supplies (up to 25 pounds) Frequent bending, reaching, and kneeling Ability to supervise students in a variety of settings, including classroom, playground, and field trips Working Conditions Work is performed in a classroom and school environment Regular interaction with students, staff, and parents/guardians May include duties outside the regular school day such as meetings, conferences, and school events Exposure to typical classroom noise levels and activity Adherence to district policies, procedures, and school calendar
