Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate teacher to join our educational team at Growing Minds Educational Services, an alternative placement school in Marion, OH. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for students. The Teacher will facilitate student engagement with online curriculum and provide academic support both individually and in small group settings, while fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages growth and resilience. Ages range from K-12th grade, so ideal candidate should have experience with youth of all ages. Growing Minds Educational Services is a dedicated partner of Marion City School, designed for students who thrive with additional support in a smaller classroom environment. We prioritize social-emotional learning and integrate direct behavioral health services within our facility. Our primary objective is to address learning barriers and successfully transition students back to their home schools. We follow Marion City School's calendar for school holidays, closures and summer breaks. Addition 3 personal day allotted per school year for additional time off needs. Responsibilities Maintain a set schedule of M-F (7:30 am - 3:30 pm) Plan and deliver engaging lessons to students to ensure their understanding of the subject matter utilizing the online curriculum provided Create and maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive classroom environment. Build positive relationships with students to promote trust and academic success. Motivate students to achieve full attendance, academic goals, and stay on track to graduation. Assess students' progress regularly and adjust instruction to meet individual learning needs. Collaborate with school staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans, as needed. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to support student learning and development. Utilize classroom management strategies appropriate for alternative education settings. Keep accurate records of students including grades books, progress reports, lesson plans, attendance records, and behavior/discipline records. Prepare and administer standardized tests as directed Participate in professional development activities, staff meetings, and extra-curricular/school events as directed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in education or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Must hold a valid Ohio Teaching License and/or the appropriate Endorsement and Authorization for the assignment (can include long-term substitute license). Satisfactory completion of federal and state criminal history check Experience working with at-risk youth and/or in alternative education setting preferred. Proficient in computer applications Strong classroom management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
