PRIMARY PURPOSE
- The purpose of this role is to provide support to families and children within the First Place Family Center Annex. 2.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Model the principles and practices of trauma-informed care and positive discipline in a therapeutic early childcare environment.
- Maintain a screen-free, developmentally appropriate classroom.
- Be responsible for classroom management and organization Supervision of children in the classroom including appropriate response to hazards, crisis, or emergency situations.
- Develop, implement, and supervise a consistent classroom rhythm which includes small and large group activities, free play, circle time, outdoor play, social/emotional skill development, meals, and effective transitions between activities.
- Work with other FPK staff to administer and track developmental screenings and evaluations.
- Supervise volunteers and interns with in-class direction.
- Develop positive relationships with parents; for example, update parents on their child's school experience and work with parents on any challenging behaviors or concerns about their child.
- Conduct parent-teacher conferences
- Schedule and attend family support and engagement activities and meetings.
- Attend weekly FPK Staff Meetings, and other SVDP Meetings as needed.
- Relate sensitively and non-judgmentally with children and parents.
- Act as a Mandatory Reporter in accordance to abuse reporting laws.
- Maintain appropriate documentation, as assigned by FPK Program Director.
- Conduct job responsibilities in consideration of professional boundaries, confidentiality, and strength-based interactions.
- Attend regular trainings per FPK, SVDP, OCC, or assigned by director.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Maintain adherence to Company policies, safety/ergonomic standards and good housekeeping practices.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
-
- At least an associate degree from a college or university majoring in early childhood education or related field OR meets qualification of teach as defined by Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care.
- Ability to interact with children at eye level; kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Currently enrolled in the Central Background Registry.
- Ability to adhere to agency philosophies, including ones related to curriculum and safety.
- Current CPR/First Aid, Food Handlers card, and ability to complete required trainings within the appropriate amount of time.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Prefer the following qualifications: o Knowledge of trauma-informed care and positive discipline techniques.
o Experience working with families from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. o Experience functioning with flexibility in high stress situations. o Experience facilitating parent education classes, family support activities, or willingness to learn. o Familiarity with Waldorf style teaching environments and principles, or willingness to learn.

Pay:
$20.00 per hour Application Question(s): This is a part-time position. The hours and days of work are Mon, Wed - Fri, 8:00 AM - 2:30 PM. Are you able to meet these scheduling requirements?
