An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Elementary Classroom Teacher General Information
  • Salaried Position with paid holidays and 10 paid time off (PTO) days per school year
  • Extra-curricular and summer positions available for additional income
  • Ten-month position with pay spread over 12 months
Schedule:
7:45 am - 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, school days according to the calendar

    • Demonstrates knowledge of PA Academic Standards, content and pedagogy.
    • Assesses students' needs to direct and guide instruction.
    • Writes clear and appropriate instructional goals.
    • Establishes high and clear expectations for student achievement.
    • Creates and maintains an effective, engaging, and safe learning environment.
    • Implements prescribed curricular resources with fidelity.
    • Monitors and reports student progress using a variety of methods.
    • Displays flexibility and responsiveness in meeting the learning needs of students.
    • Demonstrates adherence to school policies and procedures and Pennsylvania's Code of Professional Practice and Conduct for Educators.
    • Appropriately handles confidential information and maintains accurate records.
    • Supports school events both during and outside of the school day.
    • Maintains frequent, timely and appropriate communication with students, families, faculty and administration.

    • The person filling this position will be evaluated according to the teacher evaluation procedures adopted by Arts Academy Elementary Charter School.
    Reports to:
    Principal Job Qualifications
    • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Elementary Education required.
    • Valid PA Elementary K-6 or Middle Grades Teacher Certification preferred. Valid PA Elementary PK-4 certification required.
    • Experience teaching elementary-aged students is preferred.
    • Experience teaching or working with students from diverse backgrounds is preferred.
    This is a Full-Time, 10 month position offering a comprehensive benefit package including Medical, Dental, and Vision.
    Salary:
    $48,000 w/Bachelor's Degree; $50,000 w/Master's Degree Professional references are required. The following clearances and documents will be required prior to the first day of employment, to be obtained at the cost of the applicant. Failure to provide these clearances and documents within a reasonable time frame will result in withdrawal of job offer.
