Job Description
Job Overview Leatherwood Academy is a non-public Christian school located in New Bethlehem, PA. We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Lead Primary Teacher to inspire and nurture young learners in a vibrant educational environment. This is a full time postition with Holiday pay. Teachers schedule consists of Monday through Thursday, 7am to 4pm plus inservice days. As a key leader in the classroom, you will design engaging curricula, foster a positive learning atmosphere, and support the holistic development of children. Your role is vital in creating an inclusive space where children feel valued, motivated, and excited to explore their potential. Duties Implement and supplement, as needed, comprehensive curricula tailored to early childhood development standards, including literacy, math, physical education, and social-emotional learning. Lead classroom activities that promote active learning, creativity, and critical thinking among young children. Manage classroom environments effectively through behavior management strategies and classroom management techniques to ensure a safe and nurturing space. Support early intervention efforts by identifying developmental delays or special education needs and coordinating with specialists as necessary. Engage with parents and guardians through regular communication about child welfare, progress, and classroom events. Qualifications Certification required for early childhood, primary, and/or special education. Proven experience working with children in preschool or early childhood education settings, including classroom experience with toddlers and preschoolers. Strong knowledge of childhood development principles, curriculum development, and behavior management techniques. Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with parents, staff, and community partners. Ability to plan engaging lessons that incorporate literacy education, math skills, physical activities, and social-emotional learning components. Demonstrate leadership skills in managing classrooms and guiding team members toward shared educational goals.
