What they do
An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Requirements :
- Candidates must have a BA in Elementary and Early Childhood Education with a PA certification to teach Pre-K through fourth grade.
- Act 33/34, FBI and NSOR clearances and physical/TB test
- Proficient computer skills with the ability to use Microsoft Word, Outlook and the
Internet Responsibilities :
- Follow best practices for keeping children healthy and safe in Center-based care, following all licensing and regulatory policies and procedures related to PA Department of Human Services (DHS), Department of Education, Keystone STARS and National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)
- Supervise children at all times including naptime, mealtime and toileting times
- Use positive, sensitive and consistent encouragement with children
- Develop classroom lesson plans which provide children with a variety of developmentally appropriate and engaging experiences that are responsive to children's needs
- Apply strong and appropriate classroom management skills
- Engage in professional growth activities to improve professional and personal skills
