Teaching Personnel is recruiting Unqualified Teachers to work across our partner secondary schools in Newport and surrounding areas. You do not need to be a qualified teacher or have a PGCE to apply. We're looking for confident, reliable and enthusiastic people who have the ability to lead a classroom, communicate with young people and create a positive learning environment . What does an Unqualified Teacher do? As an Unqualified Teacher, sometimes known as a Cover Supervisor or Classroom Cover Supervisor , you will step into the classroom when the regular teacher is absent. The lesson and work will already have been prepared for you, so you will not be expected to plan lessons or complete marking .

Your role will be to:

Deliver pre-prepared lessons to pupils aged 11-16 Explain tasks and support pupils with their work Manage classroom behaviour and keep pupils engaged Encourage participation and create a positive learning environment Follow the school's behaviour and safeguarding policies Work across a variety of subjects and year groups Build positive professional relationships with pupils and school staff Full Cover Supervisor training can be provided by Teaching Personnel before you start. Who could be a good fit? We're interested in hearing from people from all professional backgrounds . Previous classroom experience is beneficial, but it isn't essential. You could be a great fit if you are: A graduate considering teacher training or a future PGCE An aspiring teacher looking to gain classroom experience A Teaching Assistant ready to progress into leading a classroom A sports coach, PE coach or personal trainer experienced in leading groups of young people A youth worker, support worker or residential worker An ex-police officer, PCSO, prison officer or security professional with strong behaviour-management and communication skills From an Armed Forces or military background and confident leading and motivating groups A mentor, tutor or learning support worker An experienced childcare or children's activity professional A dance, drama, music or performing arts instructor A sports graduate or coach looking for school-based experience Someone who has worked with challenging behaviour, SEN/ALN or vulnerable young people A professional considering a career change into education Someone with strong knowledge of a particular subject such as Maths, English, Science, PE, Humanities, Languages, Business, IT or the Arts Ultimately, we're looking for people who are confident, resilient, approachable and passionate about helping young people learn and succeed . If you're comfortable speaking in front of groups, can set clear expectations and believe you could positively engage a classroom of secondary-aged pupils, we'd love to hear from you. What we're looking for You don't need a formal teaching qualification, but you will need: Confidence communicating with secondary-aged pupils Strong interpersonal and communication skills The ability to remain calm and professional when managing challenging behaviour Reliability and a positive attitude A genuine interest in education and supporting young people The Right to Work in the UK An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS
