An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.
The Elementary Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to students in grades K-5. This role involves planning and implementing lessons, assessing student progress, and fostering a positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with state standards. Assess student performance and provide feedback. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress. Participate in professional development opportunities. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance instructional practices. Uphold school policies and procedures. Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related field. Valid South Carolina teaching certification preferred. Knowledge of elementary education best practices. Strong classroom management skills. Excellent communication and organizational skills. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
