This is a wonderful opportunity for the right teacher: a part-time position in the mornings teaching just one student that pays $75/hour ($1,125/week) . This opportunity is for the upcoming fall school year beginning the last week of August. Looking for a teacher who is able to teach and facilitate all homeschool subjects for a boy with ADHD and dyslexia who excels at reading, math and science subjects. (He is working at 8th & 9th grade levels in math and science.) The family is willing to collaborate with the right teacher about which curriculum is used. The teacher will work to identify educational needs, teach all subjects, and review progress with the parents. The right teacher will be encouraging and reactive to the student's learning differences. Looking for a teacher who is patient, yet stern when necessary, who can deal positively with high energy kids. A teacher who is reassuring and loves to teach would be ideal, and the teacher should be able to redirect and take quick breaks when appropriate. Looking for a teacher who is reactive to the student's needs, but who can also provide structure with the curriculum used and keep him moving forward. Must be experienced and comfortable working with twice-exceptional students who have ADHD and dyslexia. Teacher candidates should have at least a BA/BS and state certification, along with a minimum of two years professional middle school teaching experience. Prior experience in either a special education or inclusion classroom is preferred, and experience with late elementary gifted students is a plus. A STEM background is also a plus, but not required. Requirements:
BA/BS and teaching certification, plus a minimum two years professional classroom teaching experience working with middle school students is required. Prior experience working with students who have ADHD and dyslexia is preferred. Prior experience working with gifted students and a background in STEM are both a plus. Must be comfortable teaching math and science through the 8th-9th grade level and all other subjects through the 6th-7th grade level. Must have your own reliable transportation and cell phone, and must be able to travel to the home of the student in person in Dallas, TX 75230 Monday-Friday mornings from 9am-12pm. Must have good communication skills, and must be willing to interview in person in Dallas, TX 75230 and remotely via live video chat.
