An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Primary Purpose:
Provide students with native language instruction in the core academic subject areas assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society while acquiring a second language.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from accredited university Valid Texas bilingual teaching certificate or valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for bilingual education; required training for subject and level assigned Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of the developmental needs of children assigned to teach Knowledge of core academic subject assigned General knowledge of curriculum and instruction Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to read, write and speak fluently in Spanish and English or the native language of the bilingual students and English Knowledge of and background in the implementation of dual language programs
Experience:
