About Us:
Excellence Academy is an Islamic school serving students pre-k through 12th grades. The Montessori program serves students in primary (3-6) aged classroom and a lower elementary (6-9) aged classroom. Fourth grade onwards uses the Cambridge curriculum. Summary A Lower Elementary Montessori teacher works with children ages 6-9 in a mixed-age classroom. Their role involves creating a learning environment that supports independent exploration, creativity, and hands-on learning. They guide students in subjects like math, reading, writing, and science, using Montessori materials and methods. The teacher also observes and assesses students' progress, providing individualized instruction based on each child's needs. Additionally, they foster a positive, respectful classroom community and work closely with parents to support each child's development.
Requirements:
AMS, AMI
certificate or MACTE certified program certificate for Lower Elementary, 6-9 Montessori instruction or State Teaching Certificate 1-2 years of classroom experience from a Montessori or Elementary school for the grades of 1st through 3rd. Good verbal, written and interpersonal skills and able to use different LMS platforms Work well with children, parents and other staff members.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for preparation of the classroom environment, materials and equipment; ensures that all materials are in good repair and all sets complete. Develops and makes materials when needed. Plan and implement the Montessori curriculum. Give appropriate presentations and establish a record keeping system to track the children's progress. Assist in supervising the classroom assistant, aide, interns, substitutes, and parent volunteers. Work to ensure smooth transitions and create classroom procedures and instruction. Collaborate with other elementary teachers regarding curriculum and other activities Facilitate a respectful environment for children and adults by advocating conflict resolution. Implement grace, courtesy and character-building lessons. Ensure respectful and open lines of communication with parents. Be available to parents through written communication, setting up conferences, and educating parents in Montessori philosophy. Plan and host Parent Education events twice a year Assess prospective children when they visit the school. Provide first aid as needed and complete appropriate forms for parents. To be familiar with the Parent and Staff Handbooks.
