An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Job Description

Roanoke Catholic School is seeking a full time elementary teacher to instruct 3rd grade for the 26-27 school year and beyond. Candidates must have at least a four-year degree in elementary education or a similar field and must be able to obtain applicable licensure to instruct at the elementary level.
Physical Demands/Environment:
The teacher is expected to supervise students and the safe environment of the school and may involve work in classrooms, laboratories, computer labs, the library, and other parts of the facilities including the grounds.
Working Conditions:
This is a full time position, which is 40 hours per week during the school year. Travel time is sometimes required for field trips, diocesan meetings and other assigned responsibilities. A classroom and necessary books and supplies are provided by the school.
Professional Qualifications:
Must be licensed and certified to teach your area of responsibility by the state of Virginia. Each teacher is responsible for maintaining and updating his/her own certification.

Pay Grade The Catholic School Teacher works with the Principals and school officials to carry out the educational policies of the diocese and has responsibilities that are professional, instructional, managerial and interpersonal. Teachers are expected to facilitate the learning of each student, comply with school rules and policies, and provide for the safety of students. The teacher is hired and appraised by the Principal and is expected to abide by the established policies and procedures of the Diocese of Richmond, particularly the Office of Catholic Schools.
