An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Build a warm, well-managed, and engaging classroom environment
  • Plan and teach lessons that support both academic growth and social-emotional development
  • Adapt instruction to meet the individual needs of your students
  • Communicate regularly with parents and collaborate closely with colleagues
  • Maintain classroom organization and student records
  • Participate in staff meetings and school community events
  • Help prepare students for success in future grades through a mix of structure and creativity
Qualifications Required:
  • Teaching experience in an elementary or middle school classroom
Minimum of CDA Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
  • Teaching license (not required but considered an asset)
