A Civil Engineering Professor teaches foundational civil engineering ideas, truths, and methods to students through a combination of classroom instruction, field experience, and assignments at colleges, trade schools or other institutes. May assist or lead in the creation of the civil engineering curriculum to be taught. In addition to instruction, they may assist or lead in research initiatives relating to their field.
Open until filled Description The Fariborz Maseeh Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering (CAEE) at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a tenured, Endowed Chair position in the areas of Integrated Systems and/or Engineering for the Extreme. The Department seeks applicants in all relevant areas of engineering, with special emphasis on the following two topic areas:
Integrated Systems:
Integrate technical and human considerations to address complex challenges and create solutions that harness the synergies between technology, operational processes, the natural environment, and society; and/or Engineering for the
Extreme:

Qualifications Candidates should have an internationally recognized record of research and scholarship, and possess the qualities necessary for academic leadership. The successful candidate will be expected to create undergraduate and graduate learning environments that address the needs of students from a variety of backgrounds with differing learning styles and abilities. They will be expected to supervise graduate students, teach undergraduate and graduate classes, develop an externally sponsored research program, collaborate with other faculty and be involved in service to the university and profession. This appointment offers outstanding scope for the appointee's individual and collaborative research talents and provides an opportunity for leadership in developing interdisciplinary sponsored research programs. Applicants for this tenured position should have an earned PhD in engineering or a related discipline.
