Adjunct What You'll Do:
  • Teach credit and/or non-credit welding courses using proven, student-centered methods (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW) with emphasis on technique, blueprint reading, and code-level quality.
  • Instruct and enforce safe use of welding equipment, PPE, and shop procedures; maintain equipment in operational condition and ensure a clean, organized lab.
  • Develop and post syllabi aligned to master syllabi; deliver clear attendance, grading, and assessment policies; provide timely feedback to support student success.
  • Inspect and assess weld quality and strength; complete related inspection documentation; prepare students for industry tests (e.g., AWS).
  • Mentor and advise students on course progress, retention, certifications, and job pathways; refer at-risk students to counseling/advising.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, progress, and grade records; meet college timelines for rosters, non-attendance reports, and student communications.
  • Participate in professional development and represent the college professionally; collaborate with department colleagues to advance program goals.
  • Be available to students via phone/email within division response-time windows; foster an inclusive, respectful learning environment.
Required Qualifications :
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 36+ months of hands-on work experience in welding/fabrication.
  • Knowledgeable in multiple welding processes and able to teach a variety of welding courses.
  • Strong instructional techniques, organization, and a student-centered attitude.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; basic computer proficiency (LMS, email, Office).
  • NCCER Core or OSHA certification preferred, or obtained within the first 90 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications :
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
  • College- or high school-level teaching experience.
  • Experience preparing students for AWS or other industry certifications.
