Job Description

Description The Department of English at the University of Central Missouri invites applications for an appointment as an Adjunct Instructor of English Composition to teach one or possibly two courses in fall 2026. Faculty in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at the University of Central Missouri support the University's mission of providing a high-quality education and are committed to the success of their students. Examples of Duties The primary responsibility of this position is to provide instruction to students enrolled in the Department's program in First-Year English Composition. Teaching in the Department's programs entails effective delivery of instruction, being available to meet students outside the classroom during office hours and tutorials, and timely and fair evaluation and feedback of student progress. The person who fills this position will be expected to comply with all departmental, college, and University standards and regulations and contribute to cultivating a collegial atmosphere when interacting with other University faculty and staff. Typical Qualifications An M.A. in Rhetoric and Composition, English, or a related field is required. Two years of experience teaching college-level Composition and experience teaching English at the secondary school level are both strongly preferred.
