Job Description
Job Summary The Department of English and World Languages at Mississippi Christian University invites applications for atenure-track, open-rank English faculty position beginning Fall 2027. We welcome applicants with the ability to teach a variety ofgeneralist literature and writing courses. We also encourage applications from candidates whose areas of specialization will expand thebreadth and variety of courses offered. Candidates should demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching undergraduate and graduate English courses aswell as a willingness to support the department's emphasis on a systematic, methods-driven approach to textual analysis. The ideal candidatewill join a supportive and collaborative department dedicated to the needs of students, the mission of the department, and the mission ofthe university. Job Duties Teach four courses per semester, a combination of core curriculum and upper-levelcourses Support, mentor, and advise students Contribute to ongoing strategic planning for the future of the departmentwithin the School of Christian Studies, Humanities and the Arts Keep a minimum of ten in-person office hours per week during eachsemester Serve on departmental and university committees Support MississippiChristian University's mission Minimum Qualifications Applicants must have a terminal degree in English or closelyrelated field in hand before the start date of the appointment. About the Department The Department of English and World Languages offers courses in literature, language,linguistics, cultural studies, textual analysis, qualitative research, English secondary education, and philosophy. Courses emphasize theexploration and production of a variety of texts in various modes with careful attention to replicable methodologies.
