The Department of English & Humanities at DCC invites applications for a Tenure-Track position in English specializing in Composition and Rhetoric. This position has an expected start date in August 2026. DCC offers introductory courses in composition as well as co-requisite and developmental composition courses. Candidates should be creative thinkers that demonstrate the ability to implement and share innovative and current pedagogical approaches from the field of Rhetoric and Composition.Primary responsibilities include:
Teaching classes in Composition and Rhetoric. Develop and revise course curricula to reflect current industry trends and academic standards. Incorporate technology and experiential learning into classroom instruction. Assess student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback to students. Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Participate in department meetings, college-wide committees, and student club activities, and engage in campus community events. Participate in assessment activities and professional development. Contribute to program development through curriculum improvement, recruitment efforts, and community outreach. Maintain regular office hours and provide academic support to studentsRequirements:
Minimum Qualifications Master's Degree in English or Composition and Rhetoric. Official transcripts required upon hire. College level teaching experience in composition and rhetoric. Effective interpersonal and communication skills. An appreciation for diversity of all types and how diversity impacts learning and instruction. Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. in English or Composition and Rhetoric. Experience teaching at a community college. Experience supervising part-time composition instructors. Demonstrated competencies in a variety of teaching methodologies and/or pedagogical approaches that reach a broad range of learners. Teaching experience includes both in-person and online modalities. An understanding and appreciation of the role of the community college in higher education. Experience in using instructional technology in the classroom and a willingness to adopt new and emerging technologies. Experience and familiarity with a learning management system (LMS) such as Brightspace, Blackboard, or Canvas.Additional Information:

A current resume or curriculum vitae is required. Professional letters of reference are required. New tenure-track full-time faculty with a terminal degree will normally be appointed at the rank of assistant professor, as per the college's Professional Staff Handbook.Classification:
Dutchess United Educators (DUE), Tenure-Track Full-Time Teaching Educator Full-Time faculty positions are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Dutchess Community College (DCC) and Dutchess United Educators (DUE).Salary:
