About the Department The Department of English is a vibrant, diverse department, featuring undergraduate and graduate programs in English and American Literature, English Education, and Rhetoric and Writing Studies. Our program offerings include a Ph.D. program in Rhetoric and Composition, a newly revised M.A. in English Studies, B.A. degrees in English and American Literature (ENAL) and English Education (ENGL), and graduate certificates in Bilingual Professional Writing, Teaching English, and Technical and Professional Writing. The First Year Composition sequence is housed in our department, which means that virtually every undergraduate student at UTEP comes into contact with us at one time or another. Our department is one of the most productive at UTEP in terms of research, and our faculty have won many of the most prestigious awards in their fields, including fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the American Council of Learned Societies, the Mellon Foundation, and many others. The UTEP Department of English invites applications for a Lecturer beginning Fall 2026. The appointed faculty member will be expected to teach courses in the First Year Composition program. The teaching load is 5 courses per semester, with the possibility of a course reduction for departmental service.Requirements:
Applicants must have a Master's degree (or higher) in English, Literature, Rhetoric & Writing Studies, or a related field. A record of teaching excellence is required, and experience teaching First Year Composition is highly preferred. Experience working with diverse student populations and first-generation students are both highly desirable.Additional Information:
