An English Language or Literature Professor leads courses in English language and literature, including linguistics and comparative literature. Includes both teachers primarily engaged in teaching and those who do a combination of teaching and research.
Job Description Batten University invites applications for a part-time position in Fall 2026 to teach one or two in-person sections of ENG 105 The Art of Writing, a course focused on critical thinking, reading, rhetoric, and media literacy. The appointment comes with the possibility of future teaching opportunities as well. Preference will be given to candidates who have several years of experience teaching composition at the college level to a diverse population. Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare syllabi that meet the Batten syllabus guidelines and provide these to students on the first day of class. Syllabi should also be provided to the department chair. Submit mid-term reports, final grades, and C- reports per guidelines provided by the University Registrar. Comply with FERPA regulations . Coordinate with campus support services as needed to support students. Communicate with students via office hours and email. Be on time and prepared for class sessions and grade, provide feedback, and return assignments within a reasonable time period.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in English or a related field is required. Terminal degree preferred. Composition teaching experience is required. Ability to learn/use Blackboard Ultra, the University Learning Management System. Strong communication skills.
