Job Summary Job Summary Junipero Serra High School is seeking a passionate, faith-filled, and student-centered English Teacher to join our dedicated faculty. The ideal candidate is committed to academic excellence and the mission of Catholic education, creating a classroom environment that inspires critical thinking, effective communication, and a lifelong love of reading and writing. The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues to support student growth while fostering a culture rooted in faith, respect, integrity, compassion, and service. Candidates should demonstrate strong instructional practices, a commitment to building meaningful relationships with students, and a desire to help young men and women grow intellectually, spiritually, and personally as disciples of Jesus Christ.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required (preferably in English, Literature, Education, or a related field).
  • Valid California Teaching Credential and/or Master's degree preferred.
  • At least two years of teaching experience in a comprehensive high school setting.
  • Experience teaching a range of high school English courses; experience teaching Honors, AP English Language and Composition, and/or AP English Literature and Composition is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum development, writing instruction, literary analysis, and differentiated instructional practices.
  • Commitment to integrating technology to enhance teaching and student learning.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of Catholic education. Desired Qualifications
  • Master's degree in English, Literature, Education, or a related field.
  • California Single Subject Credential in English.
  • Experience teaching Advanced Placement (AP) English courses.
  • Bilingual speaking, reading, and writing abilities (Spanish) preferred.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills.
